"Greece is the birth place of Democracy. It will also die here." (loose translation of words on banners hanging in a number of occupied Universities throughout Greece.)
The 4th New England Assembly of the Northeast Anarchist Network is endorsing the call to a Day of International Action Against State Murders. The day of action is this coming Saturday, December 20th, 2008.
We would like to encourage all of our friends and comrades in the Northeast of North America and beyond to plan demonstrations and direct actions in their local cities and towns, at police stations, prisons and jails, courthouses, Greek consulates and specific corporations contributing to the repression of our communities, of the Greek uprising and of peoples movements worldwide.
On the eve of the darkest day of the year, we will mourn the death of our comrades and the death of democracy--a death brought on by the brutal tactics of police, the failure of the capitalist system, and the greed and apathy of political parties--and prepare for the dawn a new day of resistance, freedom and justice.
Please bring literature and banners spreading the word about the Greek Uprising, police brutality and state repression in general. Our theme is "The Death of Democracy."

Are you telling me that a protest, the action of utmost personal political expression, is in fact a senseless one? Are you telling me that us, as protesters, are more of a threat to people than these backwards politicians and police killing innocent people every day? and if you really just clicked on this "out of fucking curiosity" then why did you feel the need to write some stupid smart ass comment about it? If everyone already knows your opinion, and you have said you've made yourself pretty clear in the past, then you better just fuck off and not think about it. This means everything to some people so I hope you can find it in your heart to understand that.

what gets lost with many of you is the long term effects of whats going on... and though the rioters may have a "cause" (I wont say who is right or wrong.. unless u live there its hard to tell regardless of how many publications you read).. everyday the riots continue.. hundreds of millions of dollars are lost.. money that the Greece as a country cant afford to lose or will ever get back.. not to mention the loss of livihoods of the overwhelming majority of the country..

Thing is, this is spreading as a "in thing to do" throughout other parts of Europe, thus the police having to REALLY come down hard on so to squash this. Just a vicious circle and no one will win unless the violence stops.
Something to ponder. Many of the protestors are out there doing what they are doing for the sake of causing trouble and justifying bad behavior. Many years back, my cousin Athanasi, who was part of a peaceful protest, was severely injured because agitators decided to up the anti and turnover some construction vehicles. Long story short, through those actions, my cousins leg was nearly severed. He had went through several surgeries just so he can keep his leg. Shit was fucked.

Chimpy, Ive been taking my medicine and I shaved the mustache, no need to be so hostile.
Anyways, As a radical here in America, I see a strong need for these rallies. this should not be about one death in Greece, Yes, it was a horrible tragedy, and should be decried. But keep in mind this is part of a international day of action. Though this is a gesture of support for the struggles in Greece, it is also to bring to light the encroachment of our rights at home. So, if anything, there should be considerable support for this on here. I mean, Come On people!, We live in an age where Habeus Corpus has been nullified by our own government, and where the gap between rich and poor has grown to the largest its been since the gilded age, and its this Orwellian post-Patriot Act police state that keeps masses at the gates are quelled. That is what we should all be against, that is what this day of action is also fighting. the ramifications of our actions are felt around the world. For me, this is of the utmost importance.
