get tattoos if you want them, because I would assume its for yourself and not promotion for a band. really they are as permanent and non permanent as you want them to be. regretting them just gives it more character too. however if you are still deciding whether you want it or not, you should probably not get it.
Make sure you have a good tattoo artist that can do the line work well. Especially if you are thinking of getting it just a few inches wide.

clearly i'm the person you should be talking to about tattoos. the matty k school of tattoos goes this way: it should look cool...that is all. if you have a cool idea that'll look cool on you, do it. you start attaching all kind of meaning to it and you're only going to change your mind. cool stuff always looks cool.
i personally have 2 world inferno tattoos and they look cool FIRST and symbolize the band second. i love this band but i won't regret either one of those tattoos if the next album sucks. why? because the rest of the albums rule! also, look at how cool it is.
